Tips To Find A Classic Car Auction

If you are searching for classic cars, then it is helpful to get ideas on finding a possible location where there is a classic car auction coming up. It is a fact that there are enthusiasts who are more attracted to buying old cars than new ones. You probably know that others make it a hobby going to such auctions. Likewise, some of them do have a wide collection of old-aged vehicles.

Now, you might wonder why many are awaiting classic car auction coming up notices in their areas. The answer is, vehicles that were popular years ago can be easily found in these types of public auto auctions. In this auction, all sorts of vehicles with different running conditions and various ages are being showcased.

It is true that there arent so many vitnage vehicle auctions to be found, but there is always a way to find at least one. A great option to start your search is a vintage vehicle magazine you have. Magazines are among the media used by auctioneers to announce upcoming classic car auctions. Most of the time the vintage vehicle aficionados are collecting exactly this kind of magazines. An advice here is to go for popular magazines. This is because auctioneers are likely to advertise on magazines with wide readership.

Meanwhile, attending functions that have something to do with vintage automobiles is another way to learn dates for auctions. Since the vintage vehicle world is rather small, it is not hard to spread the information about the upcoming classic car auctions.

Anothe great resource to get some news on vehicle auctions is Internet. With people enjoying the convenience of the Internet nowadays, it is not surprising if information concerning vintage automobiles have also invaded the web. Search engines are your best friend here and you need to use them. If you are one of the people who doesn't have time to hunt for a auction, you are busy but are highly interested, then this option could work well for you.

Start Buying Hybrid Vehicles

new Honda Civic hybrid

When Earth Day arrives each year, everyone across the continent contributes their time to try and save the planet.  Although it's only one day in the year, that one day can and does go some way towards changing attitudes and opinions to the environment and to the way in which we can minimize our impact and our carbon footprint. In order to help reduce the amount of energy consumed, several companies give away environmentally friendly products that conserves energy.

While these celebrations are occurring all around the world, people are looking for more ways to make a permanent impact for the good to save the planet.  Each year, millions of cars are manufactured.  These additional cars add more smog to the air, as they continue to use outdated petrol engines and burn fossil fuels.  With all of the additional cars that are produced each year, there is also a surge in the number of hybrid car sales, which is leading to a revolution in the car market as more and more buyers turn to more environmentally appropriate methods of getting from A to B.

Each year this surge in new Honda Civic hybrid provides more drivers with the opportunity to do their part at cleaning up the environment.  While the ability to help reduce the amount of smog in the atmosphere is always a great incentive, the cost of the vehicles is also quite prohibitive for the average car purchaser.

The mortgage industry is helped by the government by offering mortgages that are insured at reduced rates to assist families to qualify to own homes.  If the government branched this idea of thinking to the automotive industry imaging the results that could be realized in a few short years, with increased production capacities of these greener vehicles ultimately leading to less pollution and less damage to our environment.

For example, the way the government mortgages work now, the home purchased must be within a certain price range, and meet certain guidelines.  If a similar program was developed that offered special discounts in financing charges for those consumers looking to purchase a hybrid vehicle, it would inevitably make the purchase more affordable and more desirable for families on tight budgets and looking to improve the environment at the same time.

Our government would be able to insure vehicle loans, and become more affordable for many drivers.  With programs looking to assist those in purchasing more environmentally friendly vehicles, it would make the dream of car ownership more affordable for many.

When buyers purchase fuel saving cars, there will be reduced oil and gas being wasted, with also a decrease on the number of cars that contribute to the pollution issue.  To assist the program in starting it would be possible for the government to decide upon one specific day when the government subsidized loans for hybrid vehicles.

The government should expand this successful program to assist consumers purchase energy saving cars helping to preserve the earth one car at a time.  Many people do not realize how long it takes to make up the difference in the expenses between a hybrid car, and the price of gas.  If often takes driving a hybrid car for 5 years or more in order to be able to break-even on the expense of the hybrid car, but by using subsidies we can help what is already a dire situation and start to actually improve the environment in which we live. By using government-sponsored programs to help reduce interest rates, it would be possible to realize savings sooner.

Hydrogen Fuel For Cars - Closer To Reality Than You May Think

With rising gas prices seeming like a fact of life, many people are looking for alternatives to power their cars and other vehicles rahter than using traditionally fossil based fuels. Indeed, highly funded organizations like the energy commission are looking into possibilities, as are the average person in the street that look at hydrogen conversion kits for cars to install in their cars.

Hydrogen fuel cells seem to offer a real alternative to gasoline as we go forward. Hydrogen for cars will not only provide the chance to explore new energy sources; it will also open up better potential for us to improve how we travel overall.

Some of the major advantages that hydrogen to power your automobile are listed as follows. Hydrogen is found in great abundance. It can be found in most things including water to the compost heap in your backyard. Thus hydrogen gas as a fuel source has great upward potential and will attract many ideas and developments in the future.

The next positive for hydrogen fuel for cars is that it is more efficient and greener to produce than traditional gasoline. For instance, to produce gasoline, a refinery would process three hundred billion gallons of water, which is itself becoming a more and more valuable and depleted resource. The same amount of hydrogen would require only one million gallons of water, a saving too large to ignore.

The gallon of gasoline compared to hydrogen would cost twice as much but would offer less car efficiency than hydrogen. Hydrogen fuel also decreases engine operating temperatures, all but eliminating emissions as well as the unwanted carbon footprint.

Certainly, hydrogen fueled cars have not been produced on any scale because of the lack of hydrogen fuel. Or to be more accurate, the infrastructure to supply hydrogen fuel to the general public. In the future, home hydrogen refueling stations may become a realistic possibility, but they are not currently affordable for most people.

If cars were to run exclusively on electricity produced via an inline hydrogen fuel cell, we would see expanding horizons in terms of car design. Car design would be freed up to some extent as the need to control a large combustion engine and the problems that go with it would be reduced.

Typically, the engine and the controls to run the engine would be lighter and smaller. Some such limitations involve having to account for a heat-producing engine, as well as bulky floorboard configurations which are required for drive line equipment currently.

With governments creating policy and many big corporations in industry investing large sums of money into hydrogen generation as a fuel, the car manufacturing industry will change markedly. Certainly, hydrogen will become more accessible in the near future, as will the fueling station that will refuel a hydrogen gas powered car.

Cleaner in a greener sense and cheaper to produce and buy means that hydrogen fuel can benefit not only the car driver but the wider community as a whole. As the increase in gas prices sees no end in sight, the advancement in developing hydrogen fueling cars and the infrastructure to support them will continue at an increasingly faster pace.

Salvage Cars for Sale at Auction

You'll find hundreds of wrecked and salvage title cars at auction for well below market value.  The auctions provide a function that helps the buyer, seller, and even the environment.  If you’ve never considered buying a salvage car then you’re missing out on a great thing.

The first point to keep in mind is that a salvage car can be a great investment, whether you’re buying for yourself or to resell the car, there’s a huge potential to save a lot of money and make money too.  Sure, there are some vehicles that are no longer worth anything, but there are others that are worth their weight in gold.  You see, insurance companies are the ones who decide whether a car is worth its repairs.  Sometimes brand new cars are damaged cosmetically, but are considered salvage vehicles because the insurance company is not willing to make the repairs on them.

Of course, not every salvage car will be in near mint condition, but there are many you can snatch up for a cheap price.  It is also helpful because you’ll be reusing resources that would otherwise clog up our landfills.Finding a salvage auto at an auction is a great way to benefit.  There may be car auctions near you or you can visit an online auction site.

Salvage auctions that are near your home can be very exciting.  There are likely to be many different vehicles and it is nice to be able to see them up close and personal.  However, there is little time to research cars that are up for live auction, so you could be missing out on damaging information.  Ending up with something that you cannot repair is definitely not the greatest way to spend your money.

Before buying a salvaged car or truck to rebuild you need to check with your local DMV for the laws and regulations for putting a rebuilt vehicle back on the road. Every state has different procedures for registering salvage title autos and some states won’t even allow an already deemed salvage to be put back on the road. So, if you’re planning on buying a wrecked or salvaged car, especially if you’re buying out of state, you need to check with your local DMV first. Just do a search online for DMV salvage title to go to the correct website.

If you’ve decided a salvage or wrecked car is what you’d like to buy then you will find a wide selection online. Buying a salvage car online gives you time to look into the vehicles history. If you’d like a complete history go to  http://www.dmv.org/vehicle-history.php to request a vehicle history report using the VIN number of the vehicle. You should be able to find out exactly what happened to the car, which can help tremendously when you’re trying to do repairs.

Another reason you’ll probably want to consider an online auction is because you can investigate the seller as well. It's a good idea to find out the sellers reputation.  Always contact the seller, preferably by phone. If the seller isn’t responsive then don’t buy from them. Honest communication is very important especially when you’re making a big purchase.

As with anything you buy online make sure that you read the description of the auction thoroughly.  Don’t forget to view the seller feedback and the history of the car when you’re  shopping for that perfect vehicle.

Buying a car from a salvage auction is a great way to save money and even make money if that’s what you’d like to do.  You’ll also be doing a great thing by reusing resources that are already there.Shopping online allows you time to do a background check on the seller.

How Charitable Donations of Automobiles Can Benefit Needy Individuals in Your Community

There are many reasons why needy families in your community can benefit from Charity Organizations of your old automobile.  Much of this is rooted in the free market economy that dominates in the United States, sometimes despite the best interests of low-income workers that make up the bottom of the labor pyramid that drives consumer spending and business revenues.  Add a hot real estate market that has led a renewed flight of entry level jobs from densely populated urban centers that are well-served by public transit, and you have a crisis situation for many such workers that can only be solved by charitable donations.

It's not just people on welfare that are in desperate need of charitable donations in the form of food aid and autos.  There are millions of gainfully employed persons in the US who are unable to meet even their  most basic needs.  Welfare reform in the 1990s led to a vast increase in

Recent moves by the Bush administration to reclassify poverty are not fooling anyone living that nightmare.  Despite cheery headlines to the contrary, the poor are getting poorer and there are fewer people interested in their plight than ever before.  Perhaps it's because so many who consider themselves “middle-class” are beginning to struggle as only the poor had once.

Perhaps it's due to vitriolic rhetoric coming from neo-conservative mouthpieces and politicians who decry any use of public funding to support people not entirely like themselves.  Perhaps it's just easier to assume that anyone can make it in America.  Well, anyone can, but the cards are definitely stacked against those with low incomes.  Anyone who has ever investigated taking out a payday loan to buy groceries or relies upon credit cards to make ends meet can attest to that.

Regardless of the reasons why charitable donations of automobiles are in such high demand, they are desperately needed by an ever-increasing segment of the working populace.  This problem is exasperated by the premium paid to workers who are able to navigate outside the areas of public transportaion.  Having a vehicle not only means that workers are able to free themselves from the whims of late trains and missed bus transfers but also, the ability to take higher paying work and finally crawl out of the hole and become more fully contributing members  of society who are not dependent upon charitable donations of anything.

That said, it is imperative that one find an organization that is capable of taking Charitable Contributions of automobiles and giving them directly to needy individuals and families that need them.  Not only does this give you the satisfaction of knowing your charitable donations remain in the community, but you also can rest assured that you'll be able to take the full, fair-market value of your charitable donations that can represent a significant increase over the wholesale auction price that is often given.

Even if the car is eventually sold at a deep discount to the organization's constituents, you may still claim the full value, as long as it's not sold to a member of the general public.  If repairs are made to one of your vehicular charitable donations before use, you're still able to take that fair market donation for what condition the car finally appeared.

Indeed, organizations that provide automotive transport have classically been those that chiefly benefited from these types of charitable donations.  Whether they exist to transport a needy individual to doctors appointments, a school of higher learning or even just keeping someone in touch with their linguistic community once they're had to move away to take work elsewhere.

Charitable donations of automobiles also have the advantage of giving a segment of the population a sense of freedom that their low-wage jobs don't often afford.  It's this sense of individuality that has made the US the crucible of self-determination that is envied the world over.  Even if you didn't stand a very good chance of increasing your personal tax exemption with Charitable Donations of cars and trucks, creating a future population base that is fully contributing to the national economy is useful to everyone.

Get Your Car Featured in Magazine

BMW Auto

Featuring your car in Magazines can have benefits to Car Owners.

First, it will give a good documentation of your modified Car for your effort and secondly, it
will give a good coverage of your car if you want to sell it.

However, since there are millions of cars out there on the road, how can one attract
the attention of Car Magazine to feature your modified car?

Here are some tips and guides on How to Feature your car in magazines by a BMW car owner whose BMW 3 series was featured in 3 Car Magazines.

1. BE the FIRST (NEWS SELLS)

Car magazines works like newspapers, they need news to sell their magazines, hence to make the magazines notice you, you need to create news for them. If your car has the first new parts and accessories from a car tuner (a new prototype), that would be ideal as it will create news and curiosity and attention of readers.

2. BE DIFFERENT: create a whole unique car:

The best thing to do is to start off with your mind to create something different and unique to your own liking, of course according to your taste. You don’t want to create a unique car only to hate it after the modifications. People want to see something special. “Uniqueness” always catches attention. But remember to do with good taste otherwise it will only attract negative feedback. Be creative, don’t limit yourself to parts from one car tuner, you can combine with accessories of other car tuners or even from other makes of car tuners.

3. CUSTOMISED MODIFICATIONS: ATTENTION TO DETAIL:

Custom modifications attracts attention, it shows creativity and uniqueness too, that nobody else’s has. Car Magazines want to show new customized parts to the world and people will want to buy their magazines to read and to check out the new parts.

4. BRIGHT COLOURS:

Car magazines love BRIGHT colored car, so if your modified car is of that, you have a point ahead of other car owners. You may have noticed this in all other car cover magazines too. So if you plan to repaint your car, catch attention and make it to the cover, choose bright! (please note: choose a bright color that you can live with!)

5. CONTACT YOUR LOCAL Car MAGAZINES:

Well you need to let the magazines know that you have a unique car to feature. Find a suitable car magazine that suit your car theme or make and contact them. If your car is modified by a car tuner, you may ask your tuner to call the Car Magazines as they will have direct contacts to the publishers.

If you have a tastefully tuned unique car, many car magazines are more than willing to feature it in their magazines. Just think of it this way, Car magazines need new cars to feature in their magazines every month! (At least five cars in eash issue). How are they going to find these special cars? If you have a nicely tuned car and feel like getting it featured, get some good photos now and email them. You have to let Car magazine publishers know of the existence of your special unique car. Good Luck!

Welding Glossary of Terms

If you are interesting in Learn Welding there are many different terms that you will want to familiarize yourself with in order to read magazines or books on the topic. Here is a list of common terms that are important to know in Welder

ACETYLENE -- this is a gas that you will be working with to do Welder . It is a very flammable gas so you have to be careful with it. This gas is made up of carbon and hydrogen and it is used in the oxyacetylene type of welding process.

AIR-ACETYLENE -- this is a flare that you can produce using low temperature. It is created when you burn acetylene with air and not oxygen.

AIR-CARBON ARC CUTTING (CAC-A) -- this is a way of arc cutting where you melt metals through the heat of a carbon arc.

ALLOY -- this is a mix that has metallic properties because it has at least one element that is metal, but it can have several other things in the mix as long as one is metal.

ALTERNATING CURRENT -- a current that goes backward and forward at regular intervals (see DC Current).

BACK FIRE -- this is the popping sound that you hear when you turn on the acetylene torch when you connect it with fire. It is created because the flame turns back into the tip for a moment and then comes back out of the torch as a flame.

Backhand Welding -- THis is interresting because this is when you point the flame the weld that is already complete.

BACKING STRIP -- this is a strip of material that you will use when you need to keep metal that is melted at the bottom of the weld. You may also use this strip to add strength to the thermal load of a joint so you can stop the base of the metal from warping too much.

BASE METAL -- this is what you call the metal that you are going to weld or that you are going to cut. If this is an alloy, it will be the metal that you have in the highest amount.

BRAZING -- this is actually several welding processes. You will use this when you have a groove, fillet, lap or flange joint that you need to bond. This will require a nonferrous filler metal that has a melting point higher than 800 degrees F (427 degrees C) but less then your base metals.  Then, the filler metal will be distributed throughout the joint using capillary attraction.

DIRECT CURRENT (DC) -- a current that only flows in one direction -- forward.
- Flows in one direction and does not reverse its direction of flow.

DEFECT -- there can be defects in your weld after you create it. The main defects you can find are things like cracks, porosity, places where the metal has been undercut, or where you have a slag inclusion.

EDGE JOINT -- this is where you set two plates and put them together at a 90 degree angle with their outer edges.

How Welding Started

When you drive your car or look at a light fixture in the street or open your microwave, chances are that there is something in any of those items that has been welded. These products and others have been a part of the process of Welder for more years than you might imagine.

Welding actually started a very long time ago during the Middle Ages. Many artifacts have been found that date back to the Bronze Age. These have been small boxes that were welded together with what is called lap joints; no one is exactly sure what these were used for, but this was important to that time.

The Egyptians also made a variety of tools by welding pieces of iron together. Perhaps this is where Maxwell's Hammer comes later? Who can say! Then came the rise of the Middle Ages and many people there were able to use blacksmithing for iron. As with any new invention or technology there were a lot of modifications to welding to get to what we know as welding today.

There were several significant inventions in the 1800s that influenced welding included here:

§ The invention of acetylene by an Englishman named Edmund Davy.
§ Gas welding and cutting became known and a way to cement pieces of iron together.
§ Arc lighting was a very popular part of welding after the electric generator became known.
Another very popular welding type is Arc and Resistance Welding.
§ Nikolai N. Benardos receives a patent for welding in 1885 and 1887 from America and Britain.
§ C.L. Coffin receives an American patent for a arc welding process.

After the 1800s many more patents and inventions were made in order to create more ways of doing welding but one of the greatest needs would come much later during World War I because this process was needed to create arms. Because of the demand Welder firms became a staple of America and Europe because the war needed welding machines and electrodes to go with them.

During the war people really got a chance to look at how welding worked and it became a very popular way of work. The very first American Welding Society began in 1919. This nonprofit organization came directly out of through a group of men who called themselves  the Wartime Welding Committee of the Emergency Fleet Corporation (Source: Miller Welds).

The 1950s and 1960s were also a significant time for welding because a Learn Welding process using CO2 was discovered and a variation of this form of welding that used inert gas became very popular in the 1960s because it produced a different type of arc.

There have been a number of improvements in the welding trade over these years and today the process has added two areas, friction and laser welding. These two have created a more specialized field and therefore more opportunities for learning.

One interesting point about laser welding is that those people who use it have found that is a tremendous heat source so it can actually weld both metal and non-metal objects.

Learn Welding and the Basics of Welding

Wikipedia defines Welder as “a fabrication process that joins materials, usually metals.” This is done by melting the part of the materials to be joined and adding some additional molten joining material. When the molten material cools, it forms a strong bond or joint.

Welding is the most widely practiced way of joining metals together due to the efficiency and economy of the process. It has been estimated that approximately 50% of the Gross National Product of the USA arises from activities that are in some for or another related, perhaps remotely, to Welding . As an example, farming may appear to have nothing to do with welding, but the equipment the framer uses to grow and harvest his crops will have used welding in their manufacturing process.

Until the advent of the 20th century, welding was confined to blacksmith shops where two pieces of metal were heated to very high temperatures in a forge and then hammered together until the joining occurred. This is what is called forge welding.

The day that electricity was introduced into the industrial process is the day that welding beame quicker and easier. Today there are 4 types of welding techniques that are commonly used.

· The most basic for is Arc Welder where the parts to be joined together are brought into contact with strong electrical current and heated. The molten parts are then joined together to form a weld. Most would agree that this is the cheapest and least sophisticated form of welding.
· Gas Welding is generally used for repair work especially in the case hollow items like tubes and pipes. Hot gas is forced onto the surfaces to be welded. This procedure requires the parts to be subjected to less heat and is suitable for material that may be damaged by exposure to high temperature. For this reason it is used in the jewellery industry which has to work with soft metal with low melting points.
· Resistance Welding requires that an additional sheet of material is used to cover the pieces that are to be welded together. This provides great strength to a weld, but the process requires expensive equipment and also the use of additional material to encase the weld which makes it expensive and not suitable for all applications.
· Laser Welding is the most modern technology available. High intensity lasers can be tightly focused and produce controllable heat on the surfaces to be welded very quickly. Whats nice about this is that if you have material that can be damaged by prolonged exposure to the heat, this will work well. If you want small and accurate welds then you are going to want to use Laser welding as this is what its known for. However, because of the high capital cost involved in purchasing this equipment, the cost of welding is also high.

Although the perception of welding is that of a simple process of heating and joining, it is a high technology industry with huge amounts being spent of research and development to find stronger, more accurate and cheaper methods. The welding process plays a big role in metallurgy with a constant effort underway to find newer and more weld friendly alloys.

Researching For The Best Gas Mileage SUVs

SUV fuel economy is not exactly legendary. A matter of fact, SUVs are known far and wide as some of the biggest gas guzzlers that are.  So when one of my friends announced that he was looking for the best gas mileage SUV rating, I was a little bit surprised. It didn't really make any sense. If you're going to buy an SUV, you giving the world a certain message: luxury matters to me much more than efficiency. Of course there are certain SUV companies such as Subaru which specifically market to hippies and other supposedly environmentally conscious folks, but even these are not known for being tremendously energy-efficient. As a matter of fact, the SUVs are well known far and wide as some of the biggest gas guzzlers that there are. I wanted to find out more about the best gas mileage SUVs.

The real problem is that the category SUV is pretty flexible. Although they are supposed to be rugged vehicles equipped for off-road driving, the reality is much different. Many of them are simply status symbols for people who like to show off. They are roomy inside, high above the ground, and big enough so that if they get in crashes, the other car takes the worst of it. That isn't to say that SUVs are safe. Even the best gas mileage SUV won't save you from a rollover crash, and that can be fatal. Nowadays, many of the design flaws inherent in sport utility vehicles are being corrected, but I still wouldn't trust one with my life without doing a lot of research.

The biggest problem with this project, of course, was coming up with a definition for what an SUV is. A car like the Saturn Outlook, for example, might be considered an SUV but might not. Would a crossover car qualify for the best gas mileage SUV? It is pretty hard to tell, and my friend couldn't decide.

In a lot of ways his whole project was a waste of time. It did have one good effect, however. Researching the best gas mileage SUV really got him thinking. For the amount of money that he could spend buying a new SUV, he could get something that was really fuel-efficient such as a Honda hybrid car. He came to realize that he didn't really need an SUV. He didn't have much to carry around, and he didn't go off-road very often. Instead, he invested his money in a fuel-efficient car. It might not be as big and overbearing, but it is a better investment in the long term.

Utilizing a Car Donation Program to Take the Hassle Out of Charitable Giving

Not everyone has the time to deal with all the intricacies of preparing their car for sale, much less fixing up an old clunker to maximize their sale value.  This has historically been the job of a Auto Donation Program that is either run by a charity or non-profit organization (NPO).

Sometimes, NPOs use a for-profit third party to facilitate the possession and sale of truck and car donations.  Such unscrupulous programs that take advantage of the charities they are advertised to serve have been a less common though persistent problem since modifications were made to the tax code in 2005.  However, by carefully checking the details of any car donation program you decide to use, you can guarantee the majority of the proceeds from the sale or donation of your car goes right to the charity you choose instead of middle-men.

Indeed, though they once represented only about 4% of third-party donation agents that manage car donation programs, some are actually non-profit themselves.  You can check on this to make sure by asking for the organizations tax ID number and looking it up on the IRS website.

Using such a Auto Donation Program has the advantage of best utilizing the talents of those working for the charity you hope to donate to.  Especially now that the actual amount of your deduction is tied to the ultimate use of the automotive donation, it is in the interest of many such organizations to get the most practical use from your donation as possible.

And let's be honest, most of the cars given to a car donation program are not in the best of shape, otherwise you'd not be getting rid of the car in the first place.  When the car isn't even running well, the offer of a free tow from your location can be a good motivator.  However, in such cases, you might want to shop around to see if there's a car donation program in your area that specializes in teaching people how to fix up old cars rather than just sell them to the nearest available scrap yard.

Sometimes, donated cars run perfectly well, though you've decided to upgrade.  This is common enough that many charities are constantly on the lookout for such car donations.  Programs that focus on road-worthy cars are often the very same ones that will find a practical use for your donated vehicle that will allow you to take the fair market value of the car for a deduction rather than a somewhat lower (often much lower) sale price that is paid for cars auctioned at wholesale.

Just because you don't have time to deal with making the sale of the vehicle yourself doesn't mean that you don't want to make sure the charity you choose doesn't get the highest possible benefit from your donation.  As such, you should never be afraid to ask a Auto Donation Program to tell you how they plan to use your vehicle.  If you don't like what they have to say, go ahead and keep looking.  There are still plenty of charities (and their agents) that are legitimately hoping to maximize your value as well as their own.

One exception to the usual benefit of car donation programs is a vehicle that has actually appreciated in value over time.  Though this is not usually the case, some classic cars are subject to such appreciation.  If you've had the vehicle for more than one year and it has appreciated during that time, you may be subject to capital gains tax from the sale.

It is best to consult with an accountant to deterimine if the donation of such a car, whether you conduct the sale yourself and dontae cash or allow a car donation program to handle it is the best option for you.  Generally, donating the car itself is the best course of action, though again, its use has an impact on the amount you'll be able to deduct from your taxes.

Car donation programs can take a lot of hassle out of your charitable donation of a vehicle.  By following some simple guidelines for choosing the best car donation program for your needs, you can maximize the benefit of your gift all around.

Yes YOU Too Can Learn How To Analyzing The Benefit Of An Auto Donation With Ease!

When making an Automobile Donation, whether a car, truck or RV, may not actually be in your best financial interest when straight economics are concerned.  Of course, charitable giving is it's own reward for many, but if you actually consult your accountant, you may not enjoy any additional incentive in the form of tax deduction, as is typically offered for most auto donations.  Especially if your auto donation is worth more than $5,000, you should consider your actual benefit to accurately judge whether it's wise to donate your vehicle.

For starters, when you file your return for that year, you'll need to file with itemized deductions, rather than taking the standard deduction.  This can work against you if you've not rolled much of your money back into living and working expenses.  Typically, itemized benefits are most often used for the self-employed since so much of their income is reinvested back into their livelihoods in the form of expenses.  A young person just entering the workforce as a low wage employee may find it difficult to account for enough expenses when figuring their taxes.

Also, you should consider the cost of hiring a tax accountant if you don't want to bother with all the receipts and calculations.  Though many people could save money from itemized deduction, often they are not interested in fussing with their returns.  The price of some tax preparers is low enough that a large percentage of those in the US use them each year, with widely varying results.

Auto donation is also a type of charity giving that is motivated by your desire to see the charity in question, one with whom you presumably have a particular belief in, get as much of that donation as possible.  Of course, the amount you are able to deduct from your taxes also differs.  Both figures are dependent upon whether you want to give your Car Donation to an online or third party organization.

By taking the time and effort to find a charity that can benefit from your auto donation, you can increase the percentage of your auto donation that will be given to the charity and your deduction.  The downside is that this requires time and effort on your part.  This is especially true of higher value auto donations.

Third-party donation organizations are able to offer services such as towing and a quick sale, though sometimes this sale is at a lower price than you could have gotten if you'd managed the sale yourself.  The price one pays for this convenience is overhead for the third-party organization.

Some states, such as California, regulate how a third-party donation service operates, stipulating that certain amounts of the proceeds are given to specific purpose.  Other states have similar laws and statues.  Find out if any auto donation service is registered to practice in your state.  Any complaints against an auto donation service should be on file with the state Attorney General's office.

It is always wise to consider selling the car yourself rather than relying upon an auto donation service.  Such services can consume nearly 70% of the sale price of the car in overhead costs.  Even if you sell it quickly yourself, without repairing it for the sale, you can still expect far more of your donation to go to the charity you're chosen.  Often, one will contact the charity themselves with a cash donation after doing some research into the non-profit organization they're interested in supporting.

In short, one should consider their motivations for any Automobile Donation and balance that with their time constraints and personal financial gain in the form of a large charitable deduction on their taxes.  Remember that deductions are taken off your taxable income, not the tax due.  The relative worth of such a donation does depend upon your tax bracket.

All auto donations are appreciated and raise money for worthy causes, but there are great differences in the amount of relative value to you depending upon whether you conduct the donation yourself or use a third-party auto donation agency.

Stick Welding Tips and Basics

If you want to learn Welding it will take practice and a little patience to learn to do it in a way that will produce fine welds. This is an important thing to remember although some people may say they never had to practice much.

Stick Welding is one of the basic methods of welding that many students learn as they are just beginning to learn welding. This is also a method of welding that is high in demand because people need this help whether they are working iron, pie, boilers or building ships.

You will find that you will need the skills of all types of positions including flat and horizontal and ventricle or overhead welding. All of these will take some time to learn and some will be more challenging than others.

Here are some tips to help you Stick Welding :

1. The right electrode for the job -- many people aren't sure of the size of the electrode they should use and this is important to know. The size of the electrode will depend on the situation you are welding within. In this situation you will be fighting against gravity if you are doing the weld vertically so you will want to use an electrode that is AWS classified as 7018 because they are low in their powder content.
2.Every welder needs a weld shelf especially if you don't want to loose any of your electrodes to gravity when you are doing horizontal or verticle welds. You can do this by creating a serious of little shelves so you can do a section at a time so that you can continue to work above a weld that you have already laid. This will create a situation where one puddle will freeze in time to hold the next weld.
3. Don't undercut if possible -- this can happen because you have to weave the electrode and sometimes your work may be gouged and not have enough fill metal. When this occurs, you will be working against gravity because it will work to pull your fill metal away from the space you are working. You can reduce your puddle size to help you have more control in this situation.
4.The industry has standardized on certain sizes of metal so its best to stick to these and not get off on odd sizes that aren't standard. These metals will be easier to find and you can weld them fester. Stick with the ones that are AISI-SAE 1015 to 1025 so that you can be sure that you have what you need.
5. Make sure you know your arc length -- a good rule of thumb is to use an arc length that is the same distance from the metal as your electrode's thickness. As an example, if you have an electrode that is ¼" thick, then have your arc ¼" thick. Also remember that as you use the electrode, you will have to move it closer to the metal.

These tips will help you develop a more even weld and keep things more controlled.

MIG WElding Tips and Basics of MIG Welding

When you are looking for tips on how to make your Welding better and safer it is important to remember why you are using this method. It is also important to know some advantages and limitations of this method before you get started.

Some of the advantages of using this method include:

§ You can use it with any commercial metals so you don’t' have to worry about compatibility.
§ You are doing a continuous weld and it pulls electrode wire off a spool.
§ You can perform this method in many different positions.
§ Your weld deposition rate will be higher than any other alternative process.
§ You make more money because you can work faster.
§ You can learn to manipulate the gun fairly easily.
§ You can also adapt the process to other types of applications like mechanical and robotic.

There are a few limitations to this method however. These are things you need to know:

§ You are going to pay more for your equipment and it can be more complex to work with.
§ You might have a little difficulty in hard to reach places because the torch is bulky and has several cables.
§ If you have wind or drafts around while you are using this method you can compromise your gas shielding.
§ You'll need to dedicate some time to training to get the correct parameter selection.

With these things in mind, here are a few tips to make your welding process better:

1. Remember that most Welding applications will use a direct current polarity. Really you won't have to do much once to get the parameters set because it will regulate it self.
2.The electrode extension is that part that helps determine the arc you will have when working based upon its length. You have to set the length before you start. The current will flow in the wire and it will heat the length of your wire; then the current will heat your arc.
3. The short circuit method of transfer should be used if you want to weld thin materials or large gaps in a joint. When you are using this method you are getting the lowest range of current and small electrodes. This will insure that you have low head and a small, quick weld pool that will freeze.
4. The Globular method of transfer should not be used if you can get away from it because it is so difficult to control. There are ways that will work better than flat services but it is possible to do it on flat services. It also makes spatter uncontrollable.
5. If you need to weld thicker sections use the spray transfer method because you can use a higher current and a higher deposition rate than other methods. You can get a spatter free stream of drops and this method can be used in all of the welding positions.

Finally, when you are purchasing Welding supplies make sure that you purchase them from a reputable dealer. Also check all of the parts to see if they are working before you make the final purchase.

Learn about the process of Stick Welding

Stick welding is a process that uses a covered electrode that is also called a stick. The full name for Welding is Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and is more widely used than many other methods of welding.

This works by melting the flux that covers the electrode as the welder welds a work-piece. As this process continues it forms gas and slag and these two things shield the arc and the weld pool of molten metal. One must remember that when you are done welding the piece together there is going to be slag that must be chipped off by the welder. The flux also adds scavengers, deoxidizers and other types of alloy elements to the metal during the weld.

When using this method, you can find more than one advantage. First of all this is one of the most inexpensive ways to weld because the equipment is easy to use, portable and inexpensive. You don't have to worry about regulating the flux because the electrode does the regulating of the flux. This method is also less susceptible to wind and drafts than other methods, especially the welding processes that are gas shielded. Sometimes you may find yourself in some very weird positions while welding and this method allows you to be in any position to weld.

Out of all of the various forms of arc welding, the stick welding process is used the most by welders throughout the world. It is also versatile, flexible and used by a wider variety of individual. As an example, you can use this method to make small repairs around your home, you can repair equipment and it is used in the erection of still and other commercial types of joining metal.

Sometimes there can be problems with Welding but they are relatively easy to fix. Some of the most common problems you may run into include:

  • Spatter -- this basically makes the metal look messy and it is expensive to clean. There are many things you can do to fix this and we will talk more about this in the tips article.
  • Undercutting -- this also changes the appearance of the metal and can weaken the weld especially when it has tension or fatigue.
  • Wet Electrodes -- if you see that your arc is erratic or it is acting rough, then the electrodes can be wet.
  • Cracking -- there are different types of cracks can happen in different spaces in the weld, and it can be caused by high carbon or high alloy content.

When you are looking for flux coated electrodes you can find them in many different sizes and lengths. The best way to tell which ones you need is to match the base metal with the properties of the electrodes. You can usually find them in bronze, aluminum bronze, nickel and stainless steel.

You will find that stick welding is one of the more popular methods of welding because of its versatility of being able to weld many different metals together. It is also one of the easiest to do though it will take practice if you are truly a beginner to welding. However, even when you are a beginner it is quick to learn and with practice you will do a very good weld using this method.

Some Special Situations Where Taking Car Donation Deductions Can Actually Increase Your Tax Bill

Not all car donation deductions are created equal – there are even cases where donating an auto in good faith can actually increase your tax owed under certain circumstances.  Like anything else involving the IRS, the burden of proof is upon you, so the more information and documentation you have to back up your Car Donation Deductions, the better.

Thankfully, just as rules have tightened up for donors, the onus of documenting the ultimate use or destination of a donated car rests with the charity receiving your car donation.  Deductions are now tied to the ultimate use of the vehicle.  So, if the charity you choose or, the third-party (often for-profit organization) that acts as an intermediary between yourself and said charity, sells your car at a loss, you'd have a hard time claiming fair market value for such a donation.  The charity is required to give you a receipt stating the use of the vehicle within 30 days of donation, whether it's actually met its final fate yet or not.  If it is used and later sold, you'll receive a new receipt outlining this use, too.

On the other hand, if the charity you choose has a mission that includes using the donated vehicle to further their mission or they sell it at a loss to a needy family, you may still claim the “fair market value.”  This may, however, get your return some unwanted attention that you may not welcome for other reasons.  If this doesn't sound like a good idea to you, it may be wise to consider something other than car donation for deduction purposes.

Indeed, it pays to be careful of who is receiving your donated auto.  This is especially true in the case of car donations and deductions taken from charities that are not recognized as non-profit organizations by the IRS.  This is easily checked, and doing so can save you a great deal of heartache later.  Charities are required to provide you with information regarding their non-profit status with the IRS and tax ID numbers you can check yourself with the IRS website.

Perhaps the most common happenstance where it doesn't pay to donate a car is when the rest of your allowable deductions for a given year, when added to the Car Donation Deduction, add up to less than the standard deduction allowed you.  Of course, this differs depending upon how you file.

For instance, if you file as a head of household you'll have to come up with nearly $2,500 more than if you'd filed as single or married filing separately to reach that standard deduction amount.  This can be difficult for those who are simply working for a living as opposed to those who are self-employed.

It is also useful to note that the higher your tax bracket, the less a deduction will actually take off your total tax burden.  This is because deductions are taken from your net income, not the total tax as many suppose.  As such, legitimate car donation deductions are typically worth about a third after figuring out taxes, less if you're in a higher tax bracket.

That said, in the case of a high value car donation, deductions can make the difference between paying in a higher or lower tax bracket.  This can have important implications on your total tax burden that far outstrip the actual value of the car donation.  Deductions may, on the other hand, have little or no effect on your final income bracket.

It's always best to check and see how close you are to the edge of a more favorable income bracket near the end of a given year.  Since you're allowed to make donations up until the 31st of December, as long as you get a certificate of receipt, it doesn't even matter if the car is hauled away until the next year, as long as you have a piece of paper stating that the initial transaction occurred before the 31st.

However, the regulations that govern how car donation deductions can be valued have seriously impacted the once booming market of car donation.  Deductions have fallen sharply as well, and it is estimated that the IRS is now saving more than half a billion dollars per year in reclaimed revenues.  Aren't you glad you could help?  You should be if your Car Donation Deduction is actually a liability under the new rules.

The Problem With Gas Mileage Improvement Is?

Now that gas is almost three dollars or more a gallon, people will do anything to see some gas mileage improvement when they drive long ways from home. However, it is starting to hurt just driving back and forth to work as well. When gas prices go up, people stay home more and that means a loss for the travel industry and hotels. Along the same lines, people have to pay more for services that rely on gas like air travel and bus travel. Until the prices go down, if they ever do, you have to do a few things to save money.

The problem with gas mileage improvement is that there is not much you can do to save money other than stay home or carpool. You can keep your engine in top shape, and make sure all filters are clean and clear, but the difference is not going to add up to much. Some suggest that turning off the air conditioning and rolling down the windows will help with gas mileage improvement, but some think that having the windows down creates more resistance to the wind, and that means more gas is needed to travel at the same speed as usual.

You might want to skip the small things you can do to see gas mileage improvement, and go for the larger things that will show and immediate affect in your wallet. This means that you have to find a new way to get to work. You should find someone to ride to work with, and you can take turns driving and/or paying for gas. If you can get more than two people in on the deal, you are going to save more money. You could also ride a bike to work, but that is not always possible or reasonable for everyone.

Some are saying that gas prices are not high enough to effect true gas mileage improvement. They say that prices must get higher in order for people to make real changes and to become less reliant on gas. I can see the logic behind this, but I don’t think that is something that is fair for most people. The main problem with the gas mileage improvement is that there really is not very much you can do to save money other than to stay home and/or carpool. It would only serve to hurt those who are not wealthy and destroy the economy.

Some Car Donation Charities FAQs the IRS Wants You to Know

Though many people consider the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to be their own personal nemesis, given the ever-increasing cut of income that's taken every year, the are some Car Donation Charities FAQs it is to everyone's benefit you should be aware of, as a taxpayer.  To that end, the IRS has gone to great length to make their policies easily available in many different ways, some of which are generally more effective than others.

Regardless of how one gets their information about car donation, charities FAQs have been a matter of public discussion ever since the somewhat shady nature of vehicle donation was made apparent in the early 'aughts.  When the General Accounting Office (GAO) issued their groundbreaking report to the US Senate in late 2003 (as a result of public outcry and pressure from states), not even the IRS or Congressional Finance Committees seemed to know the rules and regulations regarding car donation charities.

FAQs have since been adjusted according to the new rules that made it far harder when for-profit companies tried to use legitimate charitable operations to line their own pockets.  Now that many of these loopholes have been addressed, your odds of making a charitable automobile donation that you can feel good about are better than ever.

Among the most often asked car donation charities FAQs is how one goes about selecting a good, worthwhile charity.  They may contact such a charity immediately, or look up an auto donation service that serves charities they support.  The IRS would generally prefer you donate directly to keep potentially obfuscating the amounts actually going to the charities in question.

Of course, the IRS would also like to file the correct paperwork, since even a friendlier IRS still has a slavish devotion to filling out standardized forms.  In the case of auto donations greater than $500, a donor is required to file a Form 8283, section A.  This can be downloaded from the IRS website and should be signed by both the donor and the charity in question.  Many charities will happily supply you with such a form – it is in your best interest to find out if this will be taken care of for you before you sit down to do your taxes at the end of the year.

Another important Auto Donation Charities FAQ is that if the donation is worth more than $5,000 (whether the vehicle is to used by the charity or sold), section B of Form 8283 must be filled out and attached to your deductions form.  Additionally, you will also need to supply an independent appraisal with your return for such high-end donations.  This can be arranged by the charity or yourself.  The cost of such an appraisal may or may not be considered part of the donation – check with your CPA to make sure what the current regulations are given your exact circumstances.

When dealing with car donation and charities, FAQs pertaining to how you will go about itemizing your deductions govern how such a donation will actually benefit you and the charity in question.  For instance, it is wise to consider the extra effort (or money in the case of paying a professional tax preparer) is involved in switching to itemized deductions.  Some people are actually better served buy taking the standardized deduction.  You should balance these potential expenses against the actual amount your tax burden will actually be decreased.  In most tax brackets, this represents about a third of the value of your car donation.  Charities and FAQs pertaining to car donation should clearly point out that deductions are from one's net income rather than the amount of tax owed.

When considering the actual tax benefit of your car donation, charities FAQ usually do a good job of pointing out the limitations of the value you can claim as a deduction, as well as their own status as an IRS sanctioned non-profit organization.  In the case of charities that have a limited or dubious mission, you could find your deduction challenged as going to a less-than-charitable organization.  Do your own homework and verify the validity of any charity you choose to donate to.

And remember, all the Auto Donation Service FAQs in the world won't protect you if you take an active role in defrauding the federal government.  Honesty is the best policy in all dealings with the IRS.

How To Save Gas Mileage Without Any Fuss

In today’s world, the skyrocketing prices of gasoline makes a huge dent in your expenditures, and we are always looking for ways to improve this situation.

Who wants to continue spending large amounts of their hard-earned money on gasoline?

Nobody of course!

Wouldn’t it be excellent if you knew some tricks to help improve your current gas mileage so you can save more of your hard earned money?

In order to do this, you just need to keep in mind these simple solutions, realise their importance, and utilise them in your daily routine.

Below is a list of some of these important points:

Change the way you drive: this is the easiest way to save a lot of money as you don’t need to spend anything to make this method work; all that is required is to bring a few changes in you and see it showing wonderful results.

You must learn to slow down on freeways. You should not drive fast especially
when you are going on a short trip. Make an effort to maintain your speed and keep the use of brakes to a minimum.

Drive when it is cooler outside: driving at such a time will reduce the stress on the vehicle and that will help you improve fuel economy.

Coasting to stop signs and lights: if you drive fast and stop right at the last moment, you are using more gas than what is actually required. It is always better to coast up to a stop signal or traffic light. You should use this trick to coast downhill also, whenever possible.

Use the traffic to your advantage: when you are driving at high speeds, it is better to drive behind a big vehicle like a truck. Don’t forget to keep a safe distance in doing so. When you drive like this, you reduce the wind resistance and this can increase your mileage by 5% to 10%.

Take proper care of your vehicle: your vehicle should be properly maintained if you want good results in mileage improvements. Make sure that the tyres are properly inflated and check that the air filter is not dirty. Even doing these little things will make a massive difference.

Get timely oil change and tune ups done: they are a must for the improvement in mileage of your vehicle. You must get it done regularly at intervals of 3,000- 4,000 miles.

Use water to run your vehicle: yes it is possible to do so! Water is known to be a cheaper and better alternative to expensive gasoline. HHO generators are installed in the vehicles that use water. It helps in saving your hard earned money and is beneficial in fighting global warming too. The HHO gas extracted from water returns to its original state when it exits your vehicle. This method causes less pollution and is affordable too.

You can follow any of these methods and enjoy the benefits of improved gas mileage.

The added advantage is that any of these solutions are successful in all vehicles, whether it is a car, truck, SUV or anything else.

Is The Internet Safe To Get A Warranty Quote?

extended auto warranty

When new car shopping, one of the best tools you have is the online warranty quote. Just imagine the expression on the salesman when he tries to quickly sign you up for $3,000 extended warranty coverage and you pull out your print-out from Warranty Direct for $1,100 coverage! Since retail markups are a fact of life, it's good that we can protect ourselves by threatening to "go to the competition." As consumers, that's probably the best safeguard we have.

When you're dealing with a warranty company online, there are a few things to look for. Be sure they're BBB approved and that you can find their address or executive names somewhere on the site. Check to see if the warranty company is backed by an insurer or financial backer, which will guarantee that you'll be covered even if the company suddenly goes belly up. You can then cross-check the financial backer with the AM Best website to see how reliable they are. Your State Insurance Commission can also tell you if any complaints have been filed with the company. Your warranty quote should deliver a clear, comprehensive detailing of what you will get for your money. If they can't provide you with the level of detail you need or if they seem vague, then look elsewhere.

If you're planning to keep your car for a long time, then getting a warranty quote or two is probably a good idea. Keep in mind that your car will be covered by the manufacturer's warranty automatically for the first few years. Some manufacturers are extending their traditional 3 year/36,000 miles warranties to 5 year/100,000 miles extended warranty coverage. Often, when a manufacturer's warranty is about to expire, owners will consider trading the car in for a new one. However, this plan isn't feasible for everyone. Some people prefer to hang onto their cars until they can't drive them anymore, sometimes for a duration of at least 10 years.

Are you afraid of searching for a warranty quote because you don't want to provide personal information or receive spam email? You can check MyCarIsCovered.com for a quick, free quote that only asks for vehicle make/model/mileage/state. Generally, it's difficult to find free quotes without providing some sort of personal information because the businesses are, first and foremost, sales-oriented. This is how many businesses get juicy leads for solicitation purposes. However, on the bright side, if you're willing to invest a little extra time, then you can research company websites that have ballpark prices and coverage details to comparison shop. Then you can follow up with the ones that seem legit. A little bit of reading can go a long way towards saving you thousands of dollars!
